PROJECT: ROMA SUPPORT

Since 2008, Pharos/Faros is providing assistance to socially deprived members of the Roma population in Canton Sarajevo, through intensive social work. The target group are young women and men who are citizens of a neighboring country, and their families, who are citizens of BiH. These young mothers and fathers are living for many years illegally in BiH. Faros is suporting them to get valid ID documents, to prepare and submit applications for residence permit and citizenship. Children of mothers without residence permit often have incomplete or incorrect birth certificates. If these are not corrected, they will become legally invisible and are unable to get BiH ID documents. In cooperation with state institutions, Faros is supporting parents to correct their childrens documents, if needed, and thus allow to become full members of BiH society. This process lasts for a couple of years and has a great amount of practical steps that are to be undertaken.
