PROJECT: HEALTH INSURANCE

Pharos/Faros came accross the information, that 10% of the population of BiH has not legal right to health insurance. The assumption is, that most of them are socially deprived.
This project was started in late 2018, together with partner organisations. The aim is that all citizens are able to access health services, through health insurance.
The most affected target groups are unemployed persons, students who are older than 26 years, and children who are not going to school.
The project team identified a number of laws and regulations in the Federation of BiH (FBiH), on local, cantonal and federal level, which are relevant for access to health insurance and incompatible with the BiH, federal and cantonal Constitutions and thus incompatible with international human rights conventions. The project team submits applications for modifications to the laws and regulations to the responsible institutions and carries out lobbying work to ensure that these are implemented by the legislature.
